CHARLOTTESVILLE - The seventh-ranked Virginia women's tennis team concluded its non-conference schedule Sunday with a 6-1 win over No. 65 William & Mary at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers (12-2) won their sixth consecutive match, while the Tribe fell to 4-11 on the season.

Virginia opened the match by winning the doubles point. Erin Vierra (Norwell, Mass.) teamed with Hana Tomljanovic (Boca Raton, Fla.) for an 8-2 win at No. 2 over Hope Johnson and Anik Cepeda. Lindsey Hardenbergh (Fairfax Station, Va.) and Caryssa Peretz (Cherry Hill, N.J.) followed with an 8-3 win at No. 3 over Katie Kargl and Tori Ford to clinch the point for the Cavaliers.

In singles, the score quickly doubled to 2-0 as Li Xi (Kunming, China) cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Johnson. The Tribe posted its only point of the match at No. 4 when Tomljanovic retired during her second set of her match against Cepeda. Vierra posted a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 over Kargl and Peretz downed Sydney Smith 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 to seal the Cavalier victory. Emily Fraser (Rye, N.Y.) topped Maria Belaya 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1, while Hardenbergh topped Jeltje Loomans in three sets at No. 2 to close out the 6-1 decision.

Virginia will continue its five-match homestand on Friday as it hosts No. 5 Duke. Match time at the Snyder Tennis Center is scheduled for 3 p.m.
