CHARLOTTESVILLE - For the fourth consecutive year, both the Virginia men's and women's tennis teams will host NCAA Tournament first and second round play at the Snyder Tennis Center. The men's regional will be Friday-Saturday, May 10-11, while the women's regional is set for Saturday-Sunday, May 11-12.
In the men's tournament, Virginia will host Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round for the second consecutive year, while VCU plays Minnesota in the other first round match in Charlottesville.
In the women's tournament, the Cavaliers also play Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round for the second straight year, with Texas meeting William & Mary in the other first round match. The first round winners play the following day for a trip to the NCAA Round of 16, hosted this year by Illinois.
The Cavalier men (24-0) are the tournament's No. 2 overall seed, marking the seventh consecutive year they have been a top-four national seed. Virginia won its seventh consecutive ACC Championship this season and enters the tournament as the nation's lone undefeated team. It marks the 10th consecutive year that Virginia has received a seed and hosted a regional. The Cavaliers are the only team to be a top-eight seed in the tournament in each of the past 10 seasons. They have reached the NCAA quarterfinals eight straight seasons, including runner-up finishes the last two years and semifinal appearances in five of the past six years.
The Cavalier women (17-9) are the No. 14 overall seed in the tournament, marking the third consecutive year they have been nationally seeded. Virginia set a school record with nine ACC wins this season and reached the semifinals of the ACC Tournament for second straight year. The Cavaliers advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time in 2011 and matched the feat last season.
