CHARLOTTESVILLE - For the third consecutive year, both the Virginia men's and women's tennis teams will host NCAA Tournament first and second round play at the Snyder Tennis Center. The women's regional will be May 11-12, while the men's regional will be May 12-13.
In the women's tournament, Virginia will host Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round, while Tennessee plays VCU in the other first round match in Charlottesville. In the men's tournament, the Cavaliers also play Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round, with VCU meeting Columbia in the other first round match. The first round winners play the following day for a trip to the NCAA Round of 16, hosted this year by Georgia.
The Cavalier men (24-1) are the tournament's No. 3 seed, marking the sixth consecutive year they have been a top-four national seed. Virginia won its sixth consecutive ACC Championship this season and enters the tournament on a 17-match win streak. It marks the ninth consecutive year that Virginia has received a seed and hosted a regional. The Cavaliers are the only team to be a top eight seed in the tournament in each of the past nine seasons. They have reached the NCAA quarterfinals in seven straight tournaments, including a runner-up finish last year and semifinal appearances in four of the past five years.
The Cavalier women (18-7) are the No. 14 seed in the tournament, marking the second consecutive year they have been nationally seeded. Virginia tied a school record with seven ACC wins this season and reached the semifinals of the ACC Tournament for the first time in nine years. Last year, the Cavaliers won a pair of home matches to open the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the round of 16 for the first time in school history.
