Virginia Continues Play At UVA Fall Invite Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Several players continued to advance on Saturday as the Virginia women’s tennis team completed day two of action at the UVA Fall Invite at the Snyder Tennis Center. 

Play for the fall tournament will conclude with finals in both singles and doubles action on Sunday. Competition begins with doubles finals at 9 a.m. with singles matches scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

Saturday action back-to-back wins from junior Teodora Radosavljevic (Belgrade, Serbia) and freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) to set up an all Virginia final in the blue flight. Sophomore Erica Susi (Vero Beach, Fla.) split her matches and will play for third place in the consolation bracket on Sunday.

In the orange bracket, sophomore Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) won both of her matches to advance to the finals of the consolation bracket. Freshman Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas) dropped her only match of the afternoon.

In the white bracket, three Cavaliers were in action. Junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) and freshman Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) both split matches in the main draw of the bracket, setting up a third-place match for Gullikson on Sunday and a fifth-place match for Mercer. Freshman Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.) dropped both of her matches, but will play in the seventh-place match Sunday.


 

 

The Cavaliers have two doubles teams in main draw finals on Sunday. Virginia also has a team playing in the consolation finals and another playing for third place in the consolation bracket.
