Mercer Advances To ITA Atlantic Regional Semifinal

ITA Atlantic Regional - Singles Main Draw

NORFOLK, Va. – Junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) rallied for a three-set victory on Monday at the ITA Atlantic Regional to advance to the semifinals on Tuesday morning. Mercer will take the court at 9:30 a.m. to continue her quest for the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship.

The event is being played at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center at Old Dominion.

The winners of the singles and doubles brackets at the ITA Atlantic Regional earn automatic berths in the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate played at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. in November.

Mercer defeated Katia Bilk of Penn State 2-6, 7-5, 6-4 to advance. The junior fought off match point down 5-4 in the second set and rallied to win, forcing a decisive third set. She will face Marie Faure of William & Mary at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
