NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Virginia sophomore Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) won her opening main draw singles match Tuesday (Oct. 29) at the John Newcombe 50K Women's Pro Challenge in New Braunfels, Texas.

Elbaba defeated former Tennessee star Rosalia Alda 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 32. Elbaba will play No. 6 seed Anna Tatishvili or Jacqueline Cako in the round of 16 on Thursday.
