Elbaba Downed at Newcombe Women's Pro Challenge

Julia Elbaba went 1-1 at the John Newcombe Women's Pro Challenge.

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas - Virginia sophomore Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) lost a round of 16 main draw singles match Thursday (Oct. 31) at the John Newcombe Women's Pro Challenge in New Braunfels, Texas.

Elbaba lost 6-3, 6-4 to Anna Tatishvili in the round of 16 after defeating Rosalia Alda in the round of 32. Tatishvili is a former WTA top-50 player, who has won two of the last three USTA Women's Pro Circuit events.

Elbaba, Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Rachel Pierson (Princeton, N.J.) return to action at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 7. All three players will compete in singles and Elbaba and Pierson will compete in doubles.
