Virginia's Scott, Zwarich Honored by ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After defeating North Carolina and North Carolina State last weekend to conclude the regular-season, a pair of Virginia players were honored by the ACC.

Sophomore setter Mary Frances Scott (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep) was named as the conference's Player of the Week, while freshman middle-hitter Deanna

Zwarich (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission North) earned the ACC's Rookie of the Week honor.

Scott averaged 64 assists in the two victories. That averaged out to 16.0 assists per game for Scott, who currently ranks third on UVa's all-time assists chart. She also recorded seven kills, 16 digs, two service aces, and five blocks as Virginia ran its winning streak to two matches. Scott garnered three ACC Rookie of the Week awards during her freshman season.

Zwarich took the rookie award by recording 25 kills (3.1 kills per game), and a .400 hitting percentage over eight games. Zwarich also chipped in with two service aces, eight digs, and four blocks on the weekend. This is the first time Zwarich has earned one of the ACC's weekly awards.
