Virginia Spikes Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, NC--Virginia defeated Wake Forest in three straight games by scores of 15-13, 15-6, 15-9 in ACC volleyball action on Saturday night in Reynolds Gym.

With the win Virginia improves to 15-12 overall and 4-6 in the ACC. The Deacs fall to 8-16 and 1-9 in the ACC.

Virginia junior Claire Folga led the team with 10 kills and an attack percentage of .316. Sophomore Mary Frances Scott produced 31 assists and a team high 11 digs for the Cavaliers. Freshman Andrea Fischer had seven service aces, four of which helped Virginia jump out to an 8-0 lead in game two.

Sophomore Katie Horne finished the match with 17 kills and 10 digs for Wake Forest. Teammate Sharon Harmsworth added 13 kills and 10 digs.

Wake Forest will host Duke in Reynolds Gym beginning at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. Virginia's next match is also on Tuesday night and will be with in-state rival Virginia Tech in Charlottesville beginning at 7 p.m.
