CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia volleyball team hosts the Marriott Cavalier Classic at Memorial Gymnasium this weekend, facing ACC rival Virginia Tech Friday (Sept. 14) at 7 p.m., and Liberty on Saturday (Sept. 15) at 7 p.m. The Hokies and Flames will meet on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Single-match general admission tickets are $5. Youth, senior and faculty/staff general admission tickets are $4 and group tickets (20 or more) are $3 per ticket. Fans can order tickets online at VirginiaSports.com and by phone through the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office at 800-542-UVA1 (8821) or 434-924-UVA1 (8821). Tickets are also available at the gate beginning one hour prior to the start of each match.
Last weekend, Virginia (4-5) went 1-2 at the VCU/Third Degree Sportswear Invitational, falling to VCU, 3-2, and Georgetown, 3-0, before defeating Appalachian State, 3-0.
Sophomore Tori Janowski recorded the Cavaliers’ first triple-double since 2000, when she tallied 22 kills, 17 assists and 16 digs against VCU on Sept. 7. Janowski was named to the VCU/Third Degree Sportswear Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The Hokies come to Charlottesville with a 6-3 record after going 2-1 at the High Point University Classic last weekend.
Jennifer Wiker and Samantha Gostling lead VT, averaging 3.44 and 3.32 kills per set, respectively, while Morgan O’Neill averages 4.00 digs per set.
Virginia leads the all-time series, 30-26, while the Hokies won the last matchup, 3-2, on Nov. 25, 2011 in Charlottesville.
The Flames went 2-1 last weekend at the Kent State Mizuno Classic and have an 8-2 record on the season.
Caroline Douglas leads Liberty with 2.90 kills per set and a .367 hitting percentage, while Gabrielle Shipe averages 3.62 digs per set.
Virginia holds a 29-2 advantage in the all-time series and won the last meeting, 3-0, on Sept. 3, 2010 in Charlottesville.
Up next, the Cavaliers host Miami on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m., and 2011 national semifinalist Florida State on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
