CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team (4-11, 0-4 ACC) returns home to host Notre Dame on Friday (Oct. 6) at 7 p.m. and Louisville on Sunday (Oct. 8) at 1 p.m. in Memorial Gymnasium.

Sophomore Jelena Novakovic (Belgrade, Serbia) leads UVA with 3.00 kills per set.
The Cavaliers are fifth in the ACC in service aces with 1.30 aces per set.
Sophomore Chino Anukwuem (East Hanover, N.J.) is pacing the team at the net with 42 blocks.
Sophomore Kelsey Miller (Crestwood, Ky.) leads Virginia with 3.53 digs per set.
Notre Dame (11-4, 1-3 ACC) started the season 7-0 at home, defeating two ranked opponents and winning two tournaments. The Irish lead the ACC in blocks per set (2.94), which ranks 14th in the nation. They are led by Meg Morningstar and Sam Fry, who are currently first (1.51) and fifth (1.30) in the ACC in blocks per set and who both fall in the top 50 nationally in that category.
Virginia and Notre Dame are meeting for the seventh time. The Cavaliers hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series. UVA’s last win against Notre Dame was in 2016 in South Bend, Ind. Virginia’s lone loss against Notre Dame came in their first matchup on Oct. 25, 1986.
Louisville (9-5, 3-1 ACC) has had a strong start to the season, placing third in the ACC in both kills per set (13.51) and digs per set (14.55). Sophomore outside hitter Melanie McHenry was named last week’s ACC Volleyball Player of the Week after tallying 20 digs, 3 blocks, and 33 kills, including four of the last five in a huge win over No. 21 FSU. Junior setter Wilma Rivera runs the offense, leading the ACC in assists per set (10.73).
Sunday will be the eighth meeting for UVA and Louisville. The Cardinals hold a 4-3 edge in the series. Virginia’s most recent win was 3-0 at Louisville in 2016.
Parking for Friday’s volleyball match vs. Notre Dame will be located in the Emmet/Ivy Road garage. The Culbreth garage that fans have used in the past will be unavailable that evening due to Virginia’s Bicentennial celebration.
Virginia will hit the road next weekend, taking on NC State on Friday, Oct. 13 in Raleigh, N.C. and North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
UPDATED BAG POLICY
Put into place this fall, Virginia athletics has updated its bag policies to mirror those already in place for Scott Stadium. At Klöckner Stadium, Turf Field and Memorial Gymnasium the following procedures have been put into effect.
All guests are subject to inspection and search for prohibited items. Event staff will examine the contents of bags, jackets, pockets, or any other personal item before admitting guests to the facility. In order to expedite entrance into the facility, it is recommended that guests not bring bags to events and arrive early at the facility entrances.

• Balls, Frisbees, lacrosse sticks, and similar items
• Containers (including plastic or glass bottles, cans, coolers, or flasks)
• Food and beverages
• Strollers (except umbrella strollers) - prohibited at Scott Stadium only
• Umbrellas - prohibited at Scott Stadium only
^For men's and women's soccer matches only, artificial noisemakers are allowed; however air horns, whistles, bullhorns or devices that amplify electric sound, including battery-operated devices, are prohibited.
*The University of Virginia reserves the right to prohibit any item deemed hazardous or disruptive to the athletics event or the enjoyment of the event by other guests.
The above procedures are designed to provide a safe and positive experience for all fans in attendance at Virginia athletics events.
