CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team (5-21, 2-11 ACC) begins a four-match road trip this weekend at Louisville Friday (Nov. 11) at 7 p.m. in Cardinal Arena and Notre Dame Sunday (Nov. 13) at 1 p.m. in Purcell Pavilion.

UVA played two close matches last weekend in a 3-1 loss to Syracuse and 3-2 loss to Boston College. Six of the nine sets were decided by three points or less in the two matches.

UVA ranks fourth in the ACC in blocks, averaging 2.45 blocks per set. Virginia has recorded double-figure blocks in 10 matches. The Cavaliers recorded a season-high 21.0 total blocks against BC, which is the fourth-most in a single match in school history.

Senior Jasmine Burton (West Hills, Calif.) has emerged as an offensive powerhouse for the Cavaliers, recording a then-season high 19 kills against Syracuse before improving it with 20 kills against Boston College.

Louisville (9-16, 4-11 ACC) has won two-straight matches, most recently defeating Notre Dame, 3-1, on Wednesday. The Cardinals are hitting .177 for the season and averaging 12.04 kills per set. Melanie McHenry leads the team with 3.14 kills per set and is sixth in the ACC with 0.32 service aces per set. Defensively, Molly Sauer is sixth in the league with 4.26 digs per set.

Louisville leads the all-time series with Virginia 4-2. The Cardinals won the only meeting in 2015, 3-0, in Memorial Gymnasium. The Cavaliers picked up a 3-2 win the last time the two teams met in Louisville.

Notre Dame (19-8, 10-5 ACC) has lost four of its last five matches, including a 3-1 loss at Louisville on Wednesday. The Irish are averaging 1.84 service aces per set to lead the ACC and rank third with 15.75 digs per set. Offensively, Katie Higgins is third in the league with a .350 hitting percentage and setter Caroline Holt is second with 10.83 assists per set. Ryann DeJarld leads the Irish back line with 4.90 digs per set to rank second in the ACC.

UVA leads Notre Dame 4-1 in the series with a 4-0 win-streak. The Cavaliers won 3-1 last season at Memorial Gymnasium. The last time the two teams met in South Bend, Ind., Virginia won 3-0 on Nov. 22, 2013.
