CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Virginia volleyball team (7-22, 3-15 ACC) closes out its road schedule at Virginia Tech (9-20, 3-15 ACC) on Wednesday (Nov. 22) at 4 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va.

Virginia played a close match with Miami to open last weekend. The Cavaliers dropped first two sets, but came back to win the third and fourth sets to extend the match. Virginia lost the match 3-2. UVA lost 3-1 to Florida State on Sunday.

Freshman Alex Spencer (North Canton, Ohio) paced the Cavaliers with 3.44 kills per set and 3.00 digs per set in the two contests. Spencer recorded double-doubles in both matches and had a team-high 17 kills and 17 digs against Florida State. 

The Cavaliers had four players with double-digit kills in Sunday's match. Spencer led the team with 17, while freshman Sarah Billiard (Matthews, N.C.) added 14, sophomore Chino Anukwuem (East Hanover, N.J.) had 12 and sophomore Jennifer Wineholt (San Diego, Calif.) had a career-high 10.

Anukwuem had a standout performance at the net in Friday's match, recording nine blocks. Anukwuem added six blocks on Sunday to average 1.67 blocks per set over the weekend and finished with 25 total kills. 

Virginia Tech is coming off a 3-1 loss to Florida State and 3-0 loss to Miami. Jaila Tolbert has a team-high 291 kills and Cara Cunningham leads the Hokies at the net with 68 blocks.

Virginia dropped the first meeting with Virginia Tech at home on Sept. 27. The Cavaliers won the first set 27-25, but The Hokies battled back to win the next three sets. Sophomore Jelena Novakovic (Belgrade, Serbia) led UVA with 16 kills. The all-time series between UVA and VT is tied 35-35.
