Sydney Martin currently serves as the Director of Student Success for Football, overseeing academic advising and learning support for the football program. Her work centers on helping student-athletes succeed academically while balancing the demands of college athletics.

Sydney rejoined UVA Athletics in December 2024 as the Director of Learning Services, after previously serving in the department from 2018 to 2020 as a Learning Specialist and later as Assistant Director of Learning Services. She was promoted to her current role in July 2025.

Prior to returning to UVA, Sydney worked at Florida State University from 2022 to 2024, where she advanced from Learning Specialist to Senior Academic Advisor for Football. She played a key role in supporting student-athlete academic success and holistic development. Her career also includes experience at the University of Idaho, where she held a dual role as Learning Specialist and Academic Advisor. There, she directed the Learning Services Program, taught a College Success Strategies course for student-athletes, led the Summer Bridge Program and advised the football team.

Before transitioning to higher education, Sydney began her career in K–12 education as a classroom teacher and Intervention Specialist. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal and Civic Studies from Saint Mary’s College of California (2006), a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University (2010), and a Master of Education with a concentration in Athletic Administration from the University of Virginia (2019).

Sydney is an active member of several professional organizations including Women Leaders in Sports and the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A). She is also a certified 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher.
