CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia earned its second preseason top-25 ranking after being listed as No. 14 in the D1Baseball.com national poll on Tuesday (Jan. 16) . The Cavaliers reached the College World Series for the second time in three seasons last year and finished 2023 as a consensus top-8 team.

In his 21st season at the helm, head coach Brian O’Connor will return 19 letterwinners from a year ago including All-America shortstop Griff O’Ferrall and Third Team All-ACC honoree Ethan Anderson. UVA added 19 newcomers (13 freshmen, 4 grad transfers, 2 four-year transfers) to bolster its 2024 roster. D1Baseball ranked UVA’s freshman class No. 21 in the country.

Virginia captured the ACC Coastal Division title after a 50-15 campaign that included a 19-11 mark against ACC foes. UVA boasted one of the most balanced teams in the country last season, co-leading the nation with a .332 team batting average and sporting the fourth-lowest ERA (3.81) of any staff in college baseball. UVA also led the country in doubles (172) and hits (766).
